I don't know if this helps or makes the problem even worse but since I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package I have a new error-message right after the program starts (the screen turns black and I see the sandglass icon). I attached the error-message. -

One of the users had an identical problem.
Status: "Solved when I installed the Nov 2008 update of DirextX (FileHippo) "
Please try this exact version of DX. (Gosh, M$ sometimes sucks so badly...
)

now I am able to see the beginning screen (ravenlore) and the music starts but I get an engine error. omg I am getting closer ... here is the error message ... -

i am afraid my macbook comes with Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset. Does that mean no chance to play? -

Damn, you're so unlucky :) I'm afraid this card is not supported. There are a lot of people having this problem. I'd like to help but I dont have this card, so I can't debug this issue.
You could try to install the newest drivers from Intel.
Let me know if it works. In case of problems I'll try to 'cut-out' some pieces of code and check whether it helped... -
