Ok, so I start with the first simple tutorial on how to add a new language to WOF2.

For now it is enough to do the following:

    1) Download language.en-GB.xml file.
This file contains all gameplay texts.

    2) Create a new file with your language code (for example: language.pl-PL.xml). Copy contents of language.en-GB.xml to your file. Translate everything between <value> and </value>, leave 'data' tags intact.
There is one exception however: <data name="LanguageID"><data> should contain English (not translated) name of your language.

OK, you're done with the first part!

    3) Download tutorials.txt file.
It contains all game tutorials' texts. It's not XML because it will be outputted onto image. Now simply create tutorials.XX-XX.txt file containing translated tutorials (XX-XX is your language code).

    4) Find a nice font similar to 'Han Solo true type font' that supports your language.

    5) When your translations are sure to be bug-free, create a new comment to this topic describing your work. Put everything into one zip file and upload it alongside with the comment (you need to be a forum member to do so). Make sure you have a an account, or you won't be able to upload attachments.

IMPORTANT: All texts / fonts etc should be UTF-8 encoded / compatible.

    That's it.

Just to remind you, this is the current translation status:
    - English: OK | Wof Team
    - Polish: OK | Wof Team
    - Ukrainian: OK | Wof Team
    - Russian: OK | Wof Team
    - German: OK | Wof Team
    - Greek: OK| Makis
    - Portuguese: in progress| Andrei

We are looking for people keen on translating WOF2 to:
    - Spanish
    - French
    - Italian
    - Japanese

WOF community, we're looking forward to your translations :surprised:

I've translated the tutorial allready, however i can't find a free greek font to match the Hans Solo one!
On the .xml file which text exactly i have to translate? The 'data' field or the 'value' one?

I updated the tutorial. You only need to translate <value> tags.

Font does not need to be exactly the same. It just should be strong, simple and legible.

    Great work Makis.
One question though: I haven't seen accents in your translation. Is it ok?

    Greetings.

I made a translation to Portuguese. Its the continental Portuguese, not the so called "Brazilian" variant. It is quite similar though. It is perhaps a notch or two above the diference of red-coat english and yankee english.

As for the translation, there are a couple of words that don't have a correct term in Portuguese, like Antialiasing, Hall Of Fame, Highscores, VSync, TriangleCount and sir.

Antialiasing is just "Anti-aliasing". VSync can be left at that, but the correct words are "SincronizaƧ?o Vertical". I thought of translating it, but as in Highscores, that translates to "As Melhores Pontuacoes", I don't know what space is avaliable to write, so, I left VSync alone, and made a shorter translation on the Highscores.

Hall Of Fame have no direct translation, but I think "Os Melhores" will do. It directly translates to "The Best Ones".

"Sir" also have no use in Portugal. In our military we adress superior officers directly by rank. I first made a literal translation, but have since replaced it with "Captain", as all the other commands refeer to the pilot as such.

In "StartFrom" I need to know what will appear after it.

So, if you could tell me if you have space avaliable to put "As Melhores PontuaƧ?es" and what will appear after the "StartFrom", I will update those two, and along with the "Sir" one, update my version.

In the tutorial, can I change the way text is presented? The numbers look like a bit confusing..

    Hey Andrei!
As for "Highscores" translation length , that depends on what font will be used. However you can assume something like "HighscoresHighscores" would still fit.

Probably you have opened the tutorials.txt with an editor which cannot correctly threat next lines and you sth like this:
    1A)Take off and landing##1)Take of:##2)Pr ...
[Windows Notepad will have such behaviour]

Try using different editor like jEdit or Notepad+ [or Wordpad which is standard in Windows]

And of course we really appreciate your support:)
